January 24, 2006:

This special Tuesday concert featured Back Ted N-Ted and duo, featuring Theo Bleckmann and John Hollenbeck.  An intimate crowd gathered to hear these two New York improvisers create melodious and mercurial soundscapes. Bleckmann and Hollenbeck work with layering, contrast and harmony using voice, drums, percussion, found objects, low-tech electronic gadgets and toys. Both have been working in the New York jazz and improvisers scene for almost a decade performing with such greats as Anthony Braxton, Laurie Anderson, Bang On a Can and Merce Cunningham Dance Company (Theo Bleckmann) and Bob Brookmeyer, David Liebman, Cuong Vu and Mark Morris Dance Group (John Hollenbeck).  Their debut CD, Static Still, on their own GPE Records is available at www.jazzloft.com, www.omnitone.com, the downtown music gallery and through their own websites.

Back Ted N-Ted opened the Tuesday concert with lush melodies over funky R&B rhythms incorporating experimental loops and samples.  Back Ted N-Ted is Ryan Breen on laptop, pedals, and more.
