"Angst Jazz
Wicked kids hit the 'Head"
Phoenix New Times
by Steve Jansen

When Radiohead's doom-and-gloom vocalist Thom yorke preaches, "Fitter, happier, more productive," maybe he should take his own damn advice.  Luckily, we can enjoy the music of Radiohead - minus the depressive side effects - when Wicked Children performs jazz arrangements of Radiohead tunes on Thursday, October 13, at Modified Arts, 407 East Roosevelt Street.  The 10-piece ensemble fuses jazz elements with modern beats to creat a sound akin to the angst-ridden British group.  Bandleader Adam Roberts says, "I felt a lot of jazz was lacking in the power, rawness and energy or rock.  I realized the potential for all of Radiohead's music to undergo this sort of treatment."  Doors open at 7:30 p.m.  Admission is $5.  Call 602-462-5516 or visit www.phoenixcreativemusic.org.
