"All That Free Jazz:
Valley virtuosos Let 'er Rip"
Phoenix New Times
by Steve Jansen
Phoenix Creative Music Movement executive director Jennifer Rogers wants folks who haven't soaked up the spastic aural pleasures of PCMM's bimonthly New Music concert series to do something: get outside their comfort level. "It's your peeps playing crazy shit for all who will listen," she says. "You might not like all of the music, but I guarantee you will be compelled to talk about it."
On Thursday, April 13, at Modified Arts, 407 East Roosevelt Street, the PCMM will celebrate one sweet syncopated year of existence with bassist Andrew Jones and drummer Rob Moore playing solo and duo avante-garde jazz fusion. And if you're feeling these far-out sounds, Rogers offers this coda: "An easy way to make change is to vote with your money, spending it on experiences and things and places that you believe in." We dig ya. The doors open at 7:30 p.m. Admission costs $5. Call 602-462-5516 or visit www.phoenixcreativemusic.org. |
